Analysis Of The Causes Of Corrosion in Plastic Granulators

Sep 23, 2025

During the operation of plastic granulators, due to the influence of environmental or chemical factors, some components of the equipment may be damaged. This kind of damage is called equipment corrosion. The corrosion phenomenon of plastic granulators is mainly manifested as: cracks, pits, wear and other phenomena occur in some components of the equipment. The main cause of corrosion is that in the air or water, the metal surface undergoes a chemical reaction with oxygen or an electrochemical reaction with the electrolyte in the electrolyte solution, thereby damaging the metal material. During the corrosion process of metallic materials, they gradually lose their original luster and hardness, and may even lead to equipment damage or failure to operate normally. Therefore, preventing and controlling the corrosion phenomenon of plastic granulators is of great significance for extending the service life of the equipment and ensuring production efficiency. The following is an analysis of the reasons for the corrosion of plastic granulators: 1. Corrosion in the air: When plastic granulators are used in the air, oxygen in the air comes into contact with the metal surface and undergoes a chemical reaction, leading to metal corrosion. This kind of corrosion is usually manifested as the formation of rust spots or oxide layers, reducing the hardness and luster of the metal surface. 2. Corrosion in water: When plastic granulators come into contact with water or are used in a humid environment, the electrolytes in the water undergo electrochemical reactions with the metal surface, leading to metal corrosion. This kind of corrosion is usually manifested as pits, cracks or rust on the metal surface. Chloride ions, sulfates and other electrolytes in water are the main factors causing metal corrosion. 3. Chemical corrosion: When plastic granulators are used in an environment that comes into contact with chemical substances, the chemical substances undergo chemical reactions with the metal surface, leading to metal corrosion. This kind of corrosion is usually manifested as erosion or dissolution of the metal surface. The main factors of chemical corrosion include corrosive substances such as acids, alkalis and salts. 4. Electrochemical corrosion: Electrochemical corrosion occurs when the metal surface of the plastic granulator comes into contact with the electrolyte solution and there is a potential difference. This kind of corrosion is usually manifested as local corrosion or pitting on the metal surface. Electrochemical corrosion is a corrosion process caused by the flow of electrons on the surface of metals.
