The viscosity of solvent based gravure printing ink is too high, which will cause printing faults such as scratches, color biting, plate pasting and "orange peel".
To sum up,when designing and manufacturing solvent-based gravure printing ink,it is necessary to select the appropriate color, resin and solvent to match so that the ink reaches the appropriate initial viscosity. The printing factory should use the appropriate mixed solvent, preferably the diluent provided by the original ink manufacturer, and adjust the original ink to the appropriate "working viscosity" before printing on the machine,so as to obtain high-quality prints.
In addition, the viscosity of ink in the printing process is also related to the printing speed.Generally speaking, the faster the printing speed, the lower the viscosity of the ink is required, otherwise the ink transfer effect is not ideal.
Solvent based gravure printing ink belongs to overflows from the wet ink film, the ink film will change from liquid to solid. Therefore, the speed of solvent volatilization has a direct impact on the dryness of ink.
In the design and production of solvent based gravure printing ink,the solvent mixture of medium boiling point, low boiling point and high boiling point is generally selected to meet the drying requirements of the ink.If the resin is not properly selected, the softening point of the resin is low,the resin does not release the solvent well, too much high boiling point solvent will soften the ink film, etc.,which will affect the volatilization speed of the solvent and cause too much solvent to remain in the ink film after solidefication and drying.
When configuring solvent based gravure printing ink, resin is generally selected first, and then solvent is selected. If the dissoulution parameters of the mixed solvent are similar to those of the dissolved solvent,it is easy to dissolve and volatilize faster.Due to the addition of pigment to the ink,the volatilization speed of the mixed solvent will be greatly reduced, and the larger the pigment particles, the slower the volatilization speed of the solvent, and the worse the dryness of the ink.At the same time, the large the amount of pigment used, the slower the volatilization speed of the mixed solvent will be,because the solvent and the pigment surface have mutual traction, which resists the removal speed of the solvent.
In addition, the higher the room temperature, the lower the relative air temperature, and the faster the air circulation, the faster the volatilization speed of the mixed solvent will be,and vice versa.
