How Are Garbage Bags Produced?

Dec 15, 2024

The production process of garbage bags mainly includes the following steps

1. Raw material preparation
Purchase plastic particles: The main raw material of garbage bags is polyethylene (PE) plastic particles, which are usually extracted from petrochemical plants. They can also be made from recycled waste plastics that are sorted, cleaned, cut into pieces, and melted using a granulator.

Mixed ingredients: According to product requirements, new materials (unused plastic particles) and recycled materials (used plastic particles) are mixed. The quality of new materials is relatively good, while recycled materials may have impurities and unstable performance. In addition, in order to improve the performance of plastics, various auxiliary materials are added to the polymer, such as fillers (calcium carbonate, degraded starch, recycled particles), plasticizers, lubricants, stabilizers, colorants (masterbatches), etc.

2. Heating and melting
Put the mixed plastic particles into an extruder and turn them into molten plastic by heating and extrusion. This process helps the molecular chains between plastic particles to interweave and form a mesh structure.

3. Film blowing
The molten plastic is extruded into a film with a tubular structure through a mold or the die head of an extruder at a certain pressure and speed. The blow molding machine (also known as the film blowing machine) can be divided into a heating and melting part, a bubble blowing part, and a rewinding part, which blows the plastic into a film to form the initial shape of the garbage bag.

4. Cooling and solidification
The extruded film will pass through the cooling system to quickly cool down and solidify it. This stage can make the film stronger.

5. Cutting and sealing
Cutting: The cooled film will be cut by a cutting machine, and the film will be cut into a suitable length according to the required size.
Sealing: The cut film will be sealed by a sealing machine. The sealing machine will seal the two sides of the film together by heat sealing or pressure sealing to form the shape of the bag. If it is a continuous roll bag, a single continuous roll bag will be cut directly on the machine, and a certain number will be accumulated before packaging.
6. Printing (optional)
If you need to print text, logos or patterns on the garbage bag, you can use a printing machine to print it. Printing is usually done before the film is rolled into a large roll. The plastic film is engraved with a pre-designed cylindrical mold and printed with the required content, and then rolled into a roll.

7. Quality Inspection and Packaging
Quality Inspection: After the garbage bags are made, they will be inspected to see if the size, sealing, printing quality, etc. of the bags meet the requirements.
Packaging: The finished garbage bags are packed into boxes by automatic packaging machines or manual packaging.
8. Finished Product Storage
The packaged garbage bags will be stored in the finished product warehouse, waiting to be sold or transported.
